KARACHI: Colorful activities including rallies were organized Saturday across the province to mark Sindh Culture Day, which has become an annual festival after celebrating Sindhi Topi (cap) and Ajrak Day last year.

In Karachi a number of small and big rallies with people wearing colorful Sindhi Topi (cap) and Ajrak and riding on cars, motorcycles, busses and trucks were taken out from various parts of the city. These rallies then converged outside Karachi Press Club (KPC) where thousands of years old, rich and colorful culture of Sindh province was highlighted in the backdrop of melodious Sindhi folk songs.

In Mirpur Khas a colorful ceremony was organized at government girls high school wherein the teachers and students wore Ajrak. The students presented tableaus highlighting the 5000-year old civilization of Sindh. Similar function was also organized at government boys high school where a rally, led by the headmaster Syed Yousuf Shah and other teachers, was taken out.

Another rally was taken out in the town which after marching through different roads ended at national press club. Ayaz alias Raju and others led the rally. The participants of rally wore Sindhi caps and Ajrak. The Bright Public Future School and government boys primary school too organized functions to celebrate Sindh Culture Day. In Sehwan, a number of rallies were taken out to mark the Culture Day. The Noohani community, Sindh Dost Ittehad, Sindh United Party, Jeeay Sindh Mahaz, Jeeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, PPP-Shaheed Bhutto and other organizations organized the rallies.

The organizers of rallies distributed gifts of Sindhi caps and Ajraks among the people. The rallies were taken out from Degree college and after marching through different roads ended at local press club. All the way people played drums. The rally of Noohani community was also participated by the people from Jatoi, Rind and other communities.

Sindh Culture Day was also celebrated with national fervor in Umerkot, Chhor, New Chhor, Soofi Fakeer,Kunri, Samaro, Dhoro Naro and other towns of district with taking out rallies by different political and social organizations. Provincial minister for population welfare Syed Ali Mardan Shah led a rally in Umerkot while educational institutions organized colorful functions. The rally, led by Syed Ali Mardan Shah, started from village Kharirro Syed and ended at Umerkot press club. A large number of people riding bikes, cars and other vehicles participated in the rally.

Government Girls’ Degree College also organized a function where the students presented tableaus.

At Gharo town of Thatta district, Ghulam Qadir Palijo, father of Sindh Culture Minister Ms. Sasui Palijo, led a rally while Jeeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Sindh Taraqi Passand Party, Jeeay Sindh Tahreek, Mirpur Sakro Teachers’ Association, PPP-SB, Sindh Paramedical Staff, Sindh United Party, Awami Tahreekand the local journalists took out separate rallies to mark the day.In Matli, dozens of rallies were taken out and colorful functions were arranged at educational institutions.
